Operation Missing Link

It’s absolutely correct that the growing meat intensity of diets around the world is one of the issues connected to this global crisis. - Al Gore

Climate change is one of the biggest threats facing the future of humanity. And one of the largest, if not the largest, causes of climate change is animal agriculture.1,2 Choosing to eliminate or reduces one’s consumption of animal products is the single best thing one to do to reduce their environmental footprint.

Al Gore, the poster child of climate change action, agrees that animal agriculture is at least partly responsible for climate change.3 Yet, he does not make this an issue when lecturing others about what they could do to reduce their environmental footprint. Recently, in an article ironically entitled "Climate of Denial" he stated that President Obama is lacking "bold action" on global warming.4 But Mr. Gore himself refuses to take the bold action of highlighting the role of animal agriculture in climate change.

In September of 2011, Mr. Gore's "Climate Reality Project" spent a lot of time reiterating what most of us already know, that climate change is real and we need to do something about it now! Yet there no mention of the impact of animal agriculture in climate change and that by eliminating animal foods from their diet people can make a great and an immediate impact in the fight against climate change.

While it is easy to criticize Mr. Gore on his lack of attention in this matter, we cannot give up on him. As he writes of the political system, we say of him, "it is not so far gone that" he doesn't have to "pay attention to persistent, engaged and committed individuals."

To that end we have devised a plan to get his attention. Welcome to Operation Missing Link.

There are times in the history of our nation when our very way of life depends upon dispelling illusions and awakening to the challenge of a present danger. - Al Gore

Operation Missing Link and Climate Change

What absolute rubbish. I live in Australia and what you people perceive as climate change is what we have been experiencing as our normal climate changes. It's certainly a money spinner that's for sure.

L Palma, i dont think people

L Palma, i dont think people really care about climate change/global warming, the environment changing temperatures is a big deal, but aside from your beliefs, i think the real issue is that the pollution that people have created is taking a toll on our environment, our communities, our drinking water, our skies, the sea, the animals in the sea, and it will eventually get so bad that we will have to clear more land for garbage than we already have, probably reaching about a whole continent's worth. we need to start thinking about solutions to sustain ourselves on this tiny planet that will not be able to hold us and our garbage, and how that is actually affecting our food source and most importantly our water.
so put aside what you think about the weather and think about our planet, our communities, and our families.

Climate Change

You were very good and forthright about warning the United States and other countries about the negative effects of global warming and climte change. But you omit to tell the whole picture - how big agri-business and mass production of animals raised for slaughter for food production does the earth much harm. Please stress how important it is that we go back to smaller farms. Animals are taken cared of better on smaller farms and the earth and soil get taken cared of better. Mass production of big-agriculture is contributing greatly to our planet's demise. Thank you.
